OPENAI DEVDAY
What Happened:
November 6, OpenAI hosted its first developer conference. Every AI enthusiast was probably glued to the livestream!
OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman unveiled a series of announcements, and here are the highlights:
Build Your Own GPT with customizable GPT Builder and advanced custom instructions.
OpenAI is launching a GPT Store, a marketplace where people can buy and sell custom GPTs.
GPT-4 Turbo → OpenAI’s new model with an upgraded 128k context window. This means it can read prompts as long as a 300-page book! It will also be cheaper for developers.
OpenAI introduced “Copyright shield” to pay fees incurred for those facing legal claims on copyright infringement.
Why It’s Important:
OpenAI has proved again its far ahead of the AI race, despite the AI race intensifying and Elon Musk’s xAI joining the race (more on that next).
The BYO GPT will certainly show its usefulness for businesses and personal uses. The applications and answers are limitless, the question is, what GPT will you build?

What Happened:
Elon Musk’s new AI venture, xAI, deploys its first AI Chatbot, Grok, to compete with OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
How is Grok different:
Witty and humorous personality, modeled on “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. Try it and see 😀
Grok has access to real time data from X, and answers with the most updated information possible on X, which gives it a real edge.
It is designed to be an open book AI assistant, able to answer almost anything. As opposed to ChatGPT’s cautious responses.
Laughter is the best medicine, and Grok sure brings out laughs.
Grok is a better model than ChatGPT 3.5 but is still behind GPT 4 in some aspects.
Why It’s Important:
Considering it only took TWO MONTHS to develop Grok, in contrast to ChatGPT taking years to build, Elon Musk’s xAi has shown great potential to officially enter the AI race and be a true rival to OpenAI, Anthropic and others.
POLITICS & AI
Who knew AI would bring the world together?
What Happened:
The UK hosted the 2023 Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit, to discuss AI safety and regulation.
China, United States, European Union, and over 25 countries signed the “Bletchley Declaration” to establish common approach to AI oversight.
The West and China coming together and agree to collaborate on AI safety and develop cross-country policies to mitigate risks.
The first global summit on AI.
Why It’s Important:
Geopolitically, this is a good step in the right direction as AI brings together competing powers on the world stage to establish common ground. Whether words can be transferred to action, only time will tell.
ADDITIONAL NEWS
The report, which was commissioned by Microsoft, but independently conducted by IDC, found that respondents report an average 3.5x return on their AI investments. In other words, they say they are reaping $3.5 in returned value for every $1 invested.
Artificial Intelligence has the ability to perform illegal financial trades and cover it up. In a demonstration at the UK's AI safety summit, a bot used made-up insider information to make an "illegal" purchase of stocks without telling the firm.
The sudden rise of generative artificial intelligence has led the biggest technology companies in the world to invest billions. For $20 a month, every small business can get started in gen A.I.
